Noon on Monday (May 11) with Opening ceremony and helmsman's meeting, starts Open European Championships for seniors and juniors in Olympic class Finn, organized by the Split Yacht Club Labud.
In Uvala Baluni, at the foot of the Split Sustipan already flies the flag of thirty not only European, but also world countries, until Sunday (May 17) with scheduled medal race, will fight 80 best sailors in this so called Royal class.
Applications are still welcome, all busily preparing for tomorrow's opening, and that thrills at the sea in the fight for the title of the best sailors of the Old Continent want miss showing also a list of registered sailors - from Ed Wright, 37-year-old British who is at the top of the IFA scale, our Ivan Kljaković-Gašpić and Slovenian Vasilij Žbogar, but the Greek Ioannis Mitakis and Hungarian Zsombor Berecz, and Pole Piotr Kula who trained also at the Split Olympic Sailing Week regatta a week ago, also organized by YC Labuda. Plenty of sailors who come from America, Australia and New Zealand, among the top sailors we must not forget the Croatian sailor Milan Vujasinović and Josip Olujić.
- Heavy clashes are waiting for us, but I will enjoy sailing, after all I'm at home in my waters. Now I prepared full equipment and ship, competition I know well, just hope the weather conditions will be on our side - concise Ivan Kljakovic-Gaspic, a member of the host club YC Labud, who has the role of favorites.
As for schedule sailing is concerned, Monday after 12 hours and sailors meeting with judges, in the 14 hours scheduled practice race and Tuesday at 12 am scheduled first race. Every day, depending on the timing and strength of the wind, the sail plan are two races until Sunday and Medal race, for the title of European Champion in class Finn.
Only then we will see which of these countries flags will flutter on the biggest mast - Australia, Austria, Argentina, the Netherlands, Canada, United Kingdom, France, USA, Ukraine, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Poland, Sweden, New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Estonia, Brazil, Norway, Ireland, Spain, Uruguay, Russia, Finland, Lithuania, Hungary, Tunisia or Croatia.
